1. Join a Club

2. Get a Part-Time Job

If you can fit it into your schedule, a part-time job is a great way to earn some extra cash for going out or paying for school. Plus, you’ll make new friends while you’re at it.

3. Ask Questions

Don’t be shy, especially during your first year of school. Raise your hand in class, schedule a meeting with your professor if you don’t understand something, ask your fellow students for tips on the best bars and restaurants in the area. In general, just be curious. It’s the best way to get familiar with your new surroundings and make the most of your entire college experience.

4. Don’t Go Crazy with Money

Just got your student loan and want to take out some cash for a shopping spree? As tempting as it may be to spend that “free” money, don’t do it. You’ll regret it when your loan payments pile up later and you’re having trouble paying them back.

5. Don’t Waste Money at the Bookstore

While we’re on the topic of money, don’t waste it at your campus bookstore. Textbooks at the bookstore usually come new and cost twice as much as a used or rented book. Instead, find your textbooks online or at a used bookstore. You’ll save hundreds of dollars.

6. Exercise

While it can be fun to drink and party all through college, it’s also important to stay healthy, so you can keep your energy up for school. Try to incorporate physical activity into your routine at least four to five times a week. Whether it’s biking to class or going running with a small group, it’s important to get your body moving and keep up your endorphins. You’ll be grateful for them when finals week rolls around.

7. Have Fun

Don’t get too bogged down under the pressure to make good grades. Try to enjoy yourself and learn a thing or two while you’re there. Remember, these are the best years of your life.
